A. Glenn Crothers received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Toronto, and his Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 1997. After eight years at Indiana University Southeast, he accepted a joint appointment at UofL and the Filson Historical Society in 2005. For the next nine years, until July 2014, he was the Director of Research at the Filson and co-editor of Ohio Valley History. A specialist in southern U.S. history before 1890, Crothers has published numerous articles on southern economic development, southern Quakers, and history pedagogy in Agricultural History, the Business History Review, the Journal of the Early Republic, and the Journal of American History, among others. His monograph, Quakers Living in the Lion’s Mouth: The Society of Friends in of Northern Virginia, 1730-1865, was published by the University Press of Florida in 2012 and came out in paperback in 2013.
