Dr. Blake Beattie received his Ph.D. in Medieval Studies from the University of Toronto in 1992 and joined the faculty at the University of Louisville in 1994. He is a specialist in the history of later medieval Europe, with primary interests in the Avignon papacy and in thirteenth- and fourteenth-century Italy.
