Blake R. Beattie completed his Ph.D. at the University of Toronto in 1992 and joined the faculty in 1994.  A specialist in the History of the Medieval Church, the Avignon Papacy, and 13^th and 14^th Century Italy, Beattie is the author of Angelus Pacis: The Legation of Cardinal Giovanni Gaetano Orsini, 1326-1334 (2007). He is translating, editing and publishing previously unknown sermons preached at Avignon
