Ann Allen
Professor Ann T. Allen is a graduate of Bryn Mawr
College (B.A.) and of Columbia University (Ph.D.). She specializes in
modern German, European, and women's history. She has taught at two German
universities, the University of Bielefeld and Humboldt University, Berlin,
as well as at the University of Louisville. She has held fellowships from
the Fulbright Foundation and from the National Endowment for the
Humanities.
She is the author of many articles and of two books,
Satire and Society in Wilhelmine Germany (1984 and Feminism and Motherhood in Germany,1800-1914) (1991). A new book, “The Maternal Dilemma: Feminism and Motherhood in Western Europe, 1890-1965,” is scheduled for publication in 2004.
