Kentucky and Louisville are known for their bourbon. You'll pretty much get great bourbon everywhere around here. Below our recommendations for a some great bars around Downtown Louisville. Most of them are in walking distance from the hotel. Please drink responsibly!

Down One Bourbon Bar - 321 W. Main St. 40202. One of the best Bourbon Bars in town - sometimes called "Meeting Room D1" by professionals from the surrounding office buildings headed there for a happy hour. Access via the Galt House Hotel

Jockey Silks Bourbon Bar - 140 N. 4th St. 40202. One of the biggest bourbon selections in town - right in the Galt House Hotel.

Haymarket Whiskey Bar - 331 E. Market St. 40202. A Louisville original. Lots of bourbons and whiskeys. Get your drinks here. No food though (but a small outdoor patio for cicars).

Merle’s Whiskey Kitchen – 122 W. Main St. Southern, bourbon, beer, and music.

Taj Louisville - 807 E. Market. 40206. Tiny but cool bar with bourbon-based cocktails.

Galaxie - 732 E. Market St. 40206. Small but very cool and exciting bar on East Market.

Troll Pub Under the Bridge – 150 W. Washington St. 40202. Casual beer and cocktails.


Old Forrester on Whiskey Row. My favorite bourbon, opening a distillery up again in Downtown Louisville. Coming in early 2018.

Angel's Envy - 500 E. Main St. 40206. One of the best bourbons around, and they now have a brand new downtown distillery.

Evan Williams Bourbon Experience - 528 W. Main St. 40202. Learn about distilling and taste their great bourbons, around the corner from the hotel.

Kentucky Peerless Distilling - 120 N. 10th Street. Reviving what was once the second largest distillery in Kentucky.

Jim Beam Urban Stillhouse - 404 South 4th St. The distillery is south of Louisville but you can experience bourbon making (and get a tasting) right here.

Rabbit Hole Distilling on Market Street. Craft distilling coming to Downtown Louisville in late 2017.
