Description.
Scientific posters pose interesting challenges for the presenter…how do I display my fabulous research in a way that is user friendly? Students will learn practical strategies for creating and presenting scientific posters, including the best approach to layout and design for communicating scientific information in a graphical format. Students will also learn how to handle the author session for discussing their poster during an academic conference.
Learning Outcomes.
Upon completion, students will:
- Understand layout and design for an effective poster presentation
- Gain basic strategies for discussing their research in a limited time
- Understand basic strategies for presenting statistical information in a graphical format (for students in the natural and social sciences)
Presenter.
Jennifer Gregg earned her Ph.D. in telecommunications in 2002 from Michigan State University. She teaches courses in science communication, communication and technology, and media effects. Her research focuses on the effects of technology, particularly in disadvantaged populations. She is Director of Graduate Studies for the Department of Communication.
