Description. Did you know that employers spend less than 30
seconds initially reviewing a resume or cover letter? How can you be sure that
a future employer or search committee doesn’t miss the unique skills you will
bring as a graduate student to your future position? Becky Clark, Associate
Director of the Career Center, has extensive experience in working with
graduate students to design resumes and cover letters that catch attention,
highlight candidates’ unique characteristics, and help them catch the details
that make a difference.
Learning Objectives. After attending the session, participants
will:
· Identify areas for improvement for their resume and cover letters
· Consider how to best format and design their resume and cover letter
· Apply concepts learned at the session to their resume and cover letters
Presenter. Ms. Becky Clark is Associate Director and Career Coach at the UofL Career Development Center. She offers presentations and individual appointments for students for a range of services related to the career development process, including job search strategies, resume/CV and cover letter preparation, interviewing techniques and strategies and mock interview practice, graduate/professional school application critique, transitional skill development from student to the professional world, and other career services.
