Evaluation of Progress Toward Degree for Doctoral Students

Doctoral students must be evaluated annually with respect to their progress toward degree.  Doctoral programs shall establish guidelines for the process of this evaluation.  The results of the evaluation should be shared with the Director of Graduate Studies and the student, and should include an opportunity for student comment. A copy of the evaluation must be placed in the student’s file.  If a student’s progress toward degree is found to be unsatisfactory, a remedial plan must be outlined and communicated to the student, and the unit dean should receive a copy of the evaluation. Copies of annual evaluations must also be sent to the Graduate School for any student funded by a University Fellowship or Diversity Scholarship.
