Graduate Teaching Academy Schedule

The Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) Academy

is designed to assist Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) to develop knowledge, skills, and excellence in classroom teaching. As part of the Academy, GTAs learn practical teaching strategies from UofL faculty. The GTA Academy is most beneficial for students currently teaching, those who have recently taught, and those who will teach during their time in graduate school. However, the GTA Academy is open to any graduate students with an interest in teaching and learning in higher education.

The GTA Academy

covers a variety of topics such as syllabus creation, managing difficult situations in the classroom, grading, active learning, and designing activities to promote critical thinking.  Students teach a mini-lesson for peer review and develop a statement of teaching philosophy.
