Parking Advisory Minutes

• There was discussion about the consideration of an additional shuttle stop at Papa John’s Stadium using the area behind the Stadium and exiting by Trager Field. The shuttle supervisor (former TARC employee) evaluated the proposed shuttle drop off /pick-up locations and determined that the sites would not work because of pedestrian traffic as well as vehicular traffic without modifying the design of the parking lot facilities.
• Proposed fine increases for citations were discussed. Recommendations were made to increase the cost of Handicapped citations to $200, Forged/Altered permit citations to $250, and Red Reserved space citations to $120. The proposed increases will be discussed with Business Affairs.
• The Parking Office Hours will change for next academic year. The hours of operation will be Monday thru Friday 7:30am-5:00pm. Enforcement will still occur after hours with radio calls being diverted to the Department for Public Safety. Approximately the first month of the new academic year and the first weeks of the spring semester the Parking Office will maintain extended hours.
• HSC Parking for the 2008-2009 academic year was discussed. Parking is seeking additional parking spaces via the Courier Journal. Responses must be in by Tuesday, May 27 th. Additional space is need on the Health Science Campus to accommodate the parkers who will be displaced from the Chestnut Street Garage, the closure of the Clay/Hancock lot and the staff for the Faculty Practice Building. Residents and 3th/4 th year Medical/Dental students have an array of scheduling issues that necessitated that they have close access to the Hospital. They have been granted access to park in the Chestnut Street Garage until June 30 th. Determination of future parking for these groups will be made shortly.
• The construction of the exit ramp for the Chestnut Street Garage will be an estimated $800,000. This project has been placed on-hold until funds can be obtained.
• The Parking Fees for 2008-2009 were finalized.
