Annual Giving Phonathon

You are here: Home Annual Giving Phonathon

Each year student callers talk with thousands of alumni and friends through the Annual Giving Phonathon, which typically runs from August to May.

Students call UofL alumni and supporters to ask them to make an annual gift through the Fund for UofL. Callers also verify addresses and names. Gifts made through the phonathon range from $25 to over $1,000. Each Fund for UofL gift is important as it helps support areas that can't be funded through state and tuition support alone. It also raises the university's alumni participation rate. This means higher college rankings and an increase in the value of a UofL degree.

What about Kentucky's Anti-Telemarketing Law?

The Kentucky state legislature passed an anti-telemarketing law that went into effect July 15, 2002. The bill makes it illegal for telemarketers to contact Kentucky residents who join a "no call" list.

The bill does not affect UofL's Phonathon, since nonprofit organizations seeking charitable donations (including universities) are exempt. If you do not wish to be contacted by telephone by UofL, inform the student caller and your name will be removed from our call list.

Christopher Nevitt, the manager of the Phonathon, may be reached at 502-852-0717.
