Get Healthy Now Wellness Center Member of the Month - November
Congratulations to Daniel Krebs for being Get Healthy Now’s Member of the Month for November. This month’s theme is Healthy Eating: keep reading to learn more about how Daniel uses nutrition as an important way to fuel his body for his active lifestyle!
Daniel has been an Associate Professor in the History Department since 2007. His favorite hobbies include: working out, gardening, fishing, and hunting. On his bucket list are a few other outdoor activities; Daniel would love to “travel in Asia, ski the Rockies, go fly-fishing in the West, and get that big buck – deer that is.” His sense of humor and adventurous lifestyle are among the many reasons GHN admires Daniel.
A few recent accomplishments: achieving his goal to bench-press 230lbs on the smith press and lift 35lbs weights on the preacher bar! How has he achieved these fitness goals over the past six months? Daniel credits a clean-up to his nutrition habits, including cutting out processed foods – like candy – and making a meal plan full of whole “real” foods. He eats healthier carbs – like using whole grain Ezekiel bread when making sandwiches – and consumes less pasta. He gets in healthy fats through nut bars when he needs a quick snack, balancing protein and complex carbs to help keep him full. Daniel and his wife enjoy cooking at home, and they use fresh ingredients and healthier methods to make tasty meals.
The Wellness Center’s various workout options and opportunities to feel good have kept Daniel motivated and a fitness facility regular. He has participated in numerous wellness offerings from Boot Camp and Yoga to Mindfulness-Based Stress Relief. He appreciates that the staff members are super nice and motivating.
What’s next for this easy-go-lucky guy? He would like to continuously increase both of these power numbers, do 20 ”real” pull-ups, and continue attending Hot Yoga/Power Vinyasa classes until his “yoga poses actually look like yoga poses.” Go ahead, stand on one foot and sound a resounding OM… it won’t be long before Daniel reaches these future goals.
Join us in congratulating this November’s Member of the Month, Daniel Krebs!
