LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sometimes one block party just isn't enough.

That's the thinking behind this year's University of Louisville Homecoming 2010 celebration which features a campus block party Sept. 25 and a second block party in the Highlands Oct. 3. Both events are free and open to the public.

"We tried something new with last year's Homecoming in the Highlands block party," said Jimmy Ford, executive director, alumni relations. "It was well received by our alumni, fans and local businesses along Baxter Avenue. The festival atmosphere makes it great for families and we look forward to making this an annual event."

The Sept. 25 campus party kicks off Homecoming 2010 and will feature live music, food, carnival rides, games and appearances by UofL coaches and players. It will be at Third and Brandeis streets from 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Homecoming in the Highlands will be on Baxter Avenue between Highland and Christy avenues Sunday, Oct. 3, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event includes a pep rally with the Cardinal Cheerleaders and sports figures, food and drink specials at participating restaurants and cafes, a corn hole tournament, a rock climbing wall and activities for kids.

Other homecoming programs include an alumni gallery hop, community service day and an event on Oct. 7 honoring the 2010 Alumnus of the Year, Salem George.
