Welcome Week 2014 Volunteer Form

Welcome Week is 5 days of 50+ events and is a great way to introduce new students and their families to the University of Louisville! We certainly can't do it all on our own and are very appreciative of all the help from our friends around campus. Below you will find a list of the events we will *definitely* need help staffing at Welcome Week. These are in addition to any events you may be asked to work through your unit/department. You can also check out the full schedule of events.

The Intramurals Office is leading a scenic walk in Old Louisville. We need staff to help keep the group together, mix, and mingle.

Staff will either assist by working the entrance (helping to swipe student IDs, check student workers in and out), or help tend "bar" for the mock-tails.
Staff will help students get on the buses (there will be multiple trips, with one staff member on each bus) and down to Churchill. Staff will then take the tour with the students and help them get back on the buses and back to UofL.

Staff will help lead a walk to the stadium and other athletics facilities with Intramurals. We ask that you help keep the group together, mix and mingle.

Staff will help check students in and give them a card with information directing them to their CAPS Leader's table.

Volunteers will meet at 12:45 p.m. for a brief discussion leader training. You will receive a copy of "This I Believe" (if you don't already have one) and the facilitation guide prior to training. After training, you will go to the SAC to meet up with your student co-leader and group of students, and be sent to a designated location to facilitate your group discussion. **WE NEED AT LEAST 50 GROUP LEADERS!**

Volunteers will swipe student IDs or have students sign in at the event. Meet in Strickler Hall Lobby to go to various locations

Staff can either volunteer from 11:15 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (set-up, registration, t-shirt distribution, lunch service), 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. (lunch service, clean-up) OR volunteer from 12:00 - 6:00 (facilitate group discussion regarding service, diversity, and the Louisville community, followed by participating in service with student group at an off-campus site).

Staff will swipe student IDs at the "Surviving and Thriving" academic prep sessions, sponsored by REACH. Sessions start at 12 and 1 PM. There may be 20-30 minutes of down time between sessions.

Staff will be stationed in Middleton Aud. (Strickler Hall) or the SAC MPR to help get students seated and signed in and then turn the rooms over between sessions.

Thank you for volunteering! We will contact you at the beginning of August with details and your confirmed volunteer schedule.
Sincerely,

Christy, Katie, & Megan
