Parents,
At the University of Louisville, we consider each student's growth and development from a holistic perspective. It's understood that we all want to see these individuals reach their goal of earning a college degree. In addition, we expect that the journey toward graduation will help them to learn more about themselves, to figure out their place in the world, and to build a strong foundation of knowledge and integrity which will support their future successes.
Welcome Week is an essential component of your student's trek to success as he or she embarks on the higher education journey at the University of Louisville. First Year Initiatives programs have been intentionally designed to support your commuter or residential student in those important first steps at UofL. The week's events will allow our students to make immediate personal connections with faculty, staff and students on campus and will introduce them to the civic, academic, personal and social opportunities that the University has to offer.
Starting college isn't just a big transition for your son or daughter; it's a big change for you, too. For that reason, we encourage you to be a part of this important time in your student's life and attend the events that are also open to parent participation. The events listed below will help you get an idea of what you have to look forward to at Welcome Week, August 17th through August 21st, 2011!
Best,

Christy Metzger
Director, Office of First Year Initiatives
