Life is full of transitions...some will go smoothly while others will prove difficult. It is our job in the Office of First Year Initiatives to support you as you make the transition from high school to college, and it is our hope that your transition will go as smoothly as possible! We are here to help you with whatever we can, or get you to the right person to help you if we can't. I am thrilled to have supporting first year students as a part of my job!
Though we are here to support you, it is also our job to remind you that being in college means you are now in the driver's seat. You are now responsible for making your own decisions and choosing your own path, and it is up to you whether that path will be a positive one. I believe this quote from Henry David Thoreau sums it up: "I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by conscious endeavor." Though responsibility can at times be intimidating, I encourage you to gain strength from knowing you are in charge of your own fate.
Welcome to the University of Louisville, and GO CARDS!
