New first time freshmen and transfer students can earn a reward and a scholarship entry during Fall 2016 & Spring 2017. Semester awards (rewards and scholarships) will be selected and determined at the end of each semester, with one $500 scholarship applied to the winning student's account for the subsequent enrollment term. Students who reach the minimum attendance requirements in both of these semesters will be entered into a grand prize drawing for a $1,000 scholarship. The grand prize scholarship is drawn in the spring and will be applied to the winning student's account for the subsequent enrollment term.
Fall 2016 CARDS Event Attendance Requirements
The Fall 2016 minimum attendance is 14 CARDS Events, including 2 designated Book-in-Common events. An event must be designated as ain order to count toward these minimums. As noted above, you earn a guaranteed reward once you have met the Fall 2016 minimums. You'll also be entered to win a $500 scholarship for Spring 2017, which will be drawn as early as December 2016 and as late as January 2017. Fall 2016 Scholarship Winner: Olivia Hennis
Spring 2017 CARDS Event Attendance Requirements
The Spring 2017 minimum attendance is 10 CARDS Events, including 2 designated Book-in-Common events. An event must be designated as ain order to count toward these minimums. As noted above, you earn a guaranteed reward once you have met the Spring 2017 minimums. You'll also be entered to win a $500 scholarship, which will be drawn when the spring term concludes.
Grand Prize $1,000 Scholarship
All students admitted for Fall 2016 who meet the met the minimum requirements in both the fall and spring semesters will automatically be entered to win a grand prize $1,000 scholarship from First Year Initiatives. The prize drawing will be held when the spring 2017 term concludes.
Scholarship awards can be combined with other institutional aid up to the university’s total standard direct cost of attendance plus a stipend. Items in the standard direct cost include regular on-campus tuition, average room, average board, and average book costs. The University of Louisville is required to adhere to all federal, state, and institutional guidelines.
