Mayor's Give a Day Week of Service

Pictures from a Conversation Cafe held April 17, hosted by First Year Initiatives with support from the Office of Civic Engagement, Leadership, and Service. Attendees (14 total) contributed to Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer's Give a Day Week of Service by making cards for people affected by the bombings at the Boston Marathon on April 15. The cards were collected by Pam Curtis and delivered to 26 Acts of Kindness, a group coordinating support efforts for people in Boston.

Parkland playground project is a team effort

Time lapse video of the playground built at Parkland Boys & Girls Club. Video begins with the prep work that took place on October 13, and continues through the completion of the project on October 16. UofL volunteers continued the partnership with Parkland B&G Club developed during the Wes Moore service event on September 19 by helping prep the playground site (digging holes, cutting wood, etc.).

SOUL Service Event with Wes Moore

Video from the SOUL service event on Wednesday, September 19, 2012. UofL students teamed up with Louisville youth and community members to serve in the Parkland neighborhood, including chalking positive messages on the sidewalk, going door-to-door surveying residents and providing them with voting information, and cleaning up trash. Community partners include Network Center for Community Change, Boys & Girls Club, West End School, and Councilwoman Attica Scott's office (District 1).

Teaming up: U of L students, West End kids spread the word on involvement in Parkland neighborhood
