Books for Hope: Book Drive

Donation bins in Ville Grill, McAlister’s, Damon’s, and other campus locations
Give your books a second look! Donate new and gently used books to the Book-in-Common book drive to help grow libraries at West End School and other community agencies. Collection bins located across campus. Receive a punch on your “sweet tea” punch card for each book donated at McAlister’s! Look for other chances to donate at Family Weekend and Wes Moore’s Keynote.

Book-in-Common SOUL Service Event
Wednesday, September 19
2:00 – 6:00 PM, meet in Floyd Theater
UofL students, Louisville youth, and community leaders will team up in the historic Parkland neighborhood for service alongside Wes Moore! Space is limited, so register for service today! Registrants will meet in Floyd Theater before departing on buses to head to West End School for an introduction and brief training. Teams will then hit the Parkland community, canvassing the neighborhood as they make their way on foot to the Parkland Boys and Girls Club, where dinner and concluding activities will take place. Participants will receive a free t-shirt, light dinner, and reserved seat at the keynote!
Book-in-Common Keynote: Wes Moore

Wes Moore, author of The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates, will return to UofL to share insights into his book and discuss its relevance to our daily lives. This is a FREE ticketed event, so register for the keynote today! Be sure to print your ticket and bring it with you to the keynote. Doors will open at 5:30 PM and the lecture will begin at 6:30 PM. Also, don’t forget to give back to our community by donating books and/or food! New or gently used books will be donated to West End School and other community agencies, and non-perishable foods will be donated to our local Dare to Care. Drop boxes will be placed at entries to the venue.
