For Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff are invited to participate in the Find Your Fit project and/or the seminar at the heart of the project. This document provides an overview of the Find Your Fit seminar, ECPY 302: Personal and Academic Inquiry.

After reviewing the information and opportunities below, you can contact the project leaders at to signal their interest.

Some ways to get involved include:

  • Teach a FYF seminar

    Find Your Fit leaders are actively recruiting faculty participants to teach the Personal and Academic Inquiry seminars.

    Teaching this seminar offers instructors:

    • The opportunity to explore your academic interests with students in an innovative learning experience;
    • The opportunity to go deep on focused teaching and mentoring in small seminar format;
    • The opportunity to design and teach this seminar on a subject you are interested in

    Instructors will:

    • Explore a topic with students through an innovative cross-disciplinary approach;
    • Learn innovative pedagogical practices and engaged teaching methods and try them out in a small seminar format;
    • Collaborate and learn how to design and launch this new QEP seminar as part of a new instructional team approach in which an advisor and librarian provide strategic support to the instructor and students throughout the semester;
    • Participate in a learning community the semester prior to teaching in which ongoing guidance with peers and the other members of the instructional team understand the contours your course in relation to the goals and teaching methods of the QEP.
  • Encourage a student to consider enrolling in the Find your Fit seminar

    Faculty and staff who interact with undergraduate students may wish to know about the intended student population of the Find Your Fit seminar in order to appropriately refer students who would benefit from the experience.

    The seminar is designed for students who:

    • Have earned 30-59 hours or are in their second year
    • Have completed Engl 101 and 102 or the equivalent
    • Have a GPA of 2.0 – 3.49*
    • Have not yet decided on a major, or
    • Have not yet been admitted to their unit of choice and are open to considering other options, or
    • Are questioning their major fit, or
    • Are already transitioning between majors.

    *this is a flexible requirement

    Anyone who is interested in discussing about the eligibility of a specific student can contact Katie Adamchik, director of Exploratory Programs at: or 502.852.3222.
  • Bring expertise to the project

    The project focuses on concepts such as: belongingness, academic self-efficacy, student development theory, inquiry, active learning, critical thinking, and major/career discernment. Faculty and staff members with scholarly and teaching interests in these areas offer opportunities to enhance the work of the QEP with their expertise.

  • Participate in the project implementation

    The campus-wide Find Your Fit Implementation Committee will be meeting monthly starting in fall 2018 to help steer the FYF project over the arc of its remaining 4 years.
