Below is a list of outside scholarships our office has received. We will continue to post outside scholarships on this webpage as we receive them. These scholarships, however, are not associated with the University and we suggest both students and parents read all scholarship applications carefully and read FinAid.Org's Scholarship Scam Alert prior to submitting any application fees.

 

Evangeline J. Sansome Scholarship

Deadline: March. 27, 2010

The 15th District Parent Teacher Association is accepting applicants for the Evangeline J. Sansome Scholarship through March 27, 2010. Applicant must be a graduating senior, attending a high school whose PTA/PTSA is a unit of the Kentucky Congress of Parents and Teachers and whose PTA/PTSA is in good standing with the 15th District PTA and Kentucky PTA. Louis Edward Nicklies Scholarship Fund

Deadline: March. 31, 2010

The Louis Edward Nicklies Scholarship Fund was established to assist students who wish to pursue a career in Law, Engineering, Teaching, Medicine, or Christian Ministry . To be eligible for the Louis-Edward Nicklies Scholarship, a student must: (1) Be a graduate of a public, parochial or private high school in Jefferson County, Kentucky; 2) Have an academic record indicating the ability to succeed at the undergraduate/graduate level of study; 3) Be accepted by, or enrolled in, an accredited college, university, School of Divinity or School of Medicine in Jefferson County, Kentucky as a full-time student. Full time students must carry at least 12 hours; 4) Applicants must be pursuing a degree in law, engineering, teaching, medicine, and the Christian Ministry ; 5) Applicants must demonstrate financial need. Please stop by the Student Financial Aid Office for an application or access an online application. Applications should be sent to the office of Richard G. Carnes, PNC Advisors, 500 W. Jefferson St., 2nd Floor, Louisville, KY 40202. Applications and all supporting documentation must be received no later than Wednesday, March 31, 2010.

AICPA Scholarships

Deadline: Varies

The AICPA Fellowship for Minority Doctoral Students provides renewable awards of $12,000 to minority accounting doctoral students who demonstrate significant potential to earn their accounting doctoral degrees. Application deadline is April 1, 2010.

The AICPA/Accountemps Student Scholarship is a joint program with Accountemps, awarding five $2,500 scholarships to students pursuing a degree in accounting, finance or information systems. Application deadline is April 1, 2010.

The John L. Carey Scholarship offers $5,000 scholarships for up to 10 liberal arts or other non-business related degree holders preparing to enter a graduate accounting program. Application deadline is April 1, 2010.

The AICPA Scholarship for Minority Accounting Students offers financial awards of up to $5,000 for undergraduate and graduate minority accounting students. Application deadline is March 15, 2010.

Blue Grass Community Foundation

Deadline: April 1, 2010

Blue Grass Community Foundation is sponsoring the Edith Schwab Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship provides a one-time award of at least $1000 to a graduate student with excellent academic records, financial need, and a desire to follow a career in public service. Direct Marketing Educational Foundation Scholarship

Deadline: April 30, 2010

Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate and graduate students who have demonstrated an interest in pursuing careers in direct/ interactive marketing. Applicants must attain recommendations from professors that can speak for applicant's academic ability and interest in direct / interactive marketing. JCPS/UNCF Minor Daniels Scholarship

Deadline: April 30, 2010

Applications will be accepted for JCPS/UNCF Minor Daniels Scholarships until April 30, 2010. These scholarships are available to graduating seniors of all races who will attend a Historically Black College or University. Eligible students must graduate from Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, KY by July 1, 2010. For application forms and additional information, please visit the UNCF website.

Mae Elizabeth Kaufman and Theresa Coffman Scholarship

Deadline: May 1, 2010

The Kaufman and Coffman scholarships are available to pay tuition only, for students who are enrolled in a full-time curriculum at a dully accredited institution. Applicants must be pursuing a degree of M.D or its equivalent, a degree of J.D or its equivalent, or a degree of Doctor of Divinity or its equivalent. Applicant must be a legal resident of the Louisville area. No scholarship will be awarded to any person who has or will have attained the age of 30 years prior to the beginning of his or her first year of study towards the degree. Recipient will be under a moral obligation to assist disadvantaged and deprived persons in his or her community by means of the exercise of the skills and the talents acquired by the recipient through his or her scholarship. No scholarship shall be awarded to any applicant who had obtained any other scholarship for the same degree program. Please visit the Student Financial Aid Office for application forms. Westside Portland Baptist Church (Kentucky Baptist Foundation)

Deadline: May 1, 2010

The Westside Portland Baptist Church Scholarship is offering a scholarship in the amount of $1000 for a full academic year.  Eligibility criteria includes: 1)Students residing in Portland area of Louisville, KY (area between 15th and 38th Sts. to the west and Market St. to the Ohio River); 2)Members in good standing of a cooperating church of the Kentucky Baptist Convention; 3)Students who attend Campbellsville University, University of the Cumberlands or Georgetown College. However, the foundation did not receive applications; therefore, funds are available to students who attend any college or university located in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Guidelines include: 1)Student must be a full-time student (as defined by institution); 2)Student must be in a basic degree program; 3)Student must be financially needy (as determined by institution’s financial aid officer). B. Davis Scholarhsip

Deadline: May 28, 2010

This Scholarship is available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post secondary institution. River City Business & Professional Women’s Foundation, Inc

Deadline: May 30, 2010

Funds may be awarded to candidates who meet the following criteria: 1) Women 25 years of age or older by July 1;  2) U.S. citizen and resident of the Louisville metropolitan area; 3) Evidence of acceptance into an accredited program; 4) Need financial assistance to complete education or upgrade skills; 5) Applicants need not be BPW members or require endorsement of a BPW affiliate. Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants

Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants We will be awarding up to $1,000 to the winner(s) each year. The Scholarship Deadline is June 19, 2010. Students will submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of the Abbott & Fenner website.

AES Engineers

Deadline: Oct. 8, 2010

AES is offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted. Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. William Randolph Hearst Endowed Fellowship for Minority Students

The Nonprofit Sector and Philanthropy Program (NSPP) of the Aspen Institute in Washington, DC, offers the William Randolph Hearst Endowed Fellowship three times annually. The fellowship, which is based on academic excellence and need, is open to both undergraduate and graduate students of color. The Hearst Fellow serves as an intern with NSPP. Recipients may arrange with their colleges or universities to receive academic credit for this experience. The ideal candidate for this fellowship is a highly motivated continuing graduate or undergraduate student from an underrepresented community. She or he should have an excellent academic record and also have the following: 1) Outstanding research skills; 2) Demonstrated interest or experience in the nonprofit sector; 3) Excellent writing and communication skills; 4) Demonstrated financial need; and 5) American citizenship. F. Edward Hebert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program

The Army offers the F. Edward Hebert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program. Whether you want to become a Physician, Dentist, Veterinarian, Optometrist, Clinical or Counseling Psychologist, if you qualify, you could earn a full-tuition scholarship, plus a monthly stipend of more than $1,900. To qualify for the scholarship, you must: be a U.S. citizen with a baccaulaureate degree from an accredited school; depending upon your specialty, be enrolled in or have a letter of acceptance or intent from an accredited graduate program in the U.S. or Puerto Rico; maintain full-time student status during the entire length of the program; and qualify as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserve For application forms and additional information, call 1-800-USA-ARMY, or visit the ARMY website.

Benjamin A Gilman International Study Abroad Scholarship

The Gilman Scholarship is open to all US citizen undergraduates, in good academic standing. Eligibility Requirements include: (1) Applicant must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant or provide proof that he/she will be receiving a Pell Grant at the time of application or during the term of their study abroad, (2) Applicant is applying to or has been accepted into a study abroad program eligible for credit by the student's accredited institution of higher education in the U.S, (3) Applicant is studying abroad for at least 4 weeks in one country. Programs going to more than one country are eligible if the student will be studying in one country for at least 4 weeks, (4) Applicant is studying abroad in any country except Cuba or a country on the State Department's current Travel Warning List, (5) Applicant is studying in the fall, spring, or academic year terms including winter inter-sessions. For application forms and additional information please visit the Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship website.  

The Gilman Scholarship Program is piloting a special summer award cycle for students participating in summer 2010 study abroad programs.  To be eligible applicants must meet all of the criteria listed above and must be majoring in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) field. For additional information, please visit the eligibility requeirements web page.

Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund

The Thurgood Marshall Fund offers various types of scholarships to African American College/University Students including the The Sidney B. Williams, Jr. Intellectual Property Law School Scholarship. The National Research Council Associateship Programs

Deadline: Varies

The NRC is administering the 2010 Postdoctoral and Senior Research Associateship Program. The programs provide opportunities for Ph.D., Sc.D, or M.D. scientists and engineers to conduct research of their own choosing. Full-time associateships will be awarded on a competitive basis for research infields of chemistry, earth, atmospheric and space sciences, engineering, applied sciences and computer sciences, life and medical sciences, mathematics, space and planetary sciences, and physics. National Society of Collegiate Scholars

Church Avenue Merchants Block Association (CAMBA)

CAMBA, a non-profit community based organization located in Brooklyn, provides low income people with a broad array of services, including counseling, education and youth programs, to help them become self sufficient. CAMBA programs focus on the strengths of the people we serve, to build their skills to help them reach their full potential and value cultural diversity. NAACP Scholarships

The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination. Institute for Humane Studies Production Internships

Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University is offering paid Production internships for fall, spring and summer. placements available in Los Angeles, New York and Washington, DC. Concetration will be focused on documentary films, animation, feature films, and television. Internships open to undergraduate and graduate students.
