United States Income Tax Treaties Information including existing tax treaties between the United States and other countries

Documentation required to claim a tax treaty

All Teacher/Researchers, Students, and Scholarship Students must submit the following:

Tax Treaty Acknowledgment letter (pdf)

IRS Form 8233 (pdf) with attached copies of:

    • Visa
    • I-94
    • I-20 or DS-2019
    • Passport
    • Employee ID#

Teacher/Researcher and Students are also required to submit:

Country Statement specific to your country and status (teacher/researcher or student)

Scholarship Students are also required to include:

W-8 BEN Certificate of Foreign Status of Beneficial Owner for US Tax Withholding (pdf)

Scholarship Student Country Statement (pdf)
