How Often Will I Get Paid?
This depends on the state you live in and the company you work for. You can be paid once a month, twice a month, every two weeks, or every week. Employers can pay you more often than the state law requires--for instance, the Commonwealth of Kentucky says you have to be paid at least monthly, the university can pay you every two weeks instead. Your employer can't pay you less often than state law requires, though. You have to receive your check on your employer's set payday, and within a certain number of days after each pay period ends.
Hourly employees are paid biweekly. Their workweek runs from 12:00 a.m. Friday morning until midnight the following Thursday. Payday is Friday of the following week. Paychecks for salaried employees are issued the 30th of each month. If the 30th falls on a Saturday or Sunday, payday is the preceding Friday.
