Research Methods in Pharmacology and Toxicology 2006-2007

This team-taught set of courses will provide a brief introduction to the wide range of methods used to conduct research in pharmacology and toxicology. The student will be exposed to departmental experts covering each topic. The course will consist of four 1 credit Modules. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:00 – 3:00 PM, in the PKK Conference Room (HSCA 1302). 1 h per session, 15 h per module; Module I will be lecture based and grades assigned based on performance on assignments and/or examinations. Modules II –IV will consist of 1 h of lecture followed by 1 h of student presentations of research papers demonstrating the method. Presentations will use a team approach with one member of the team assigned to present and the other members responsible for leading discussion with questions. Grades for modules II-IVwill be assigned based on faculty evaluations of the presentations and discussions.
