About me

I am Chairperson and Professor of Philosophy at the University of Louisville, where I teach in our undergraduate programs as well as our graduate programs in Health Care Ethics. I also teach in the program in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE), and in the Diversity Literacy Certificate program. For ten years I directed the Social Change minor, which I co-founded. Born & raised in Toronto, Canada, I completed my PhD in 2000 at the University of Arizona, Tucson, and my BA in 1995 at Brown University in Providence, RI. I also pursued non-degree undergraduate study at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1992) and the American University in Cairo (1994).

I'm a member of the Kentucky Climate Consortium. I'm also a former president of the UofL chapter of the American Association of University Professors and a member of the United Campus Workers of Kentucky.
