Pilot Projects Program
The CEGIB Pilot Project Program is designed to encourage new and innovative research approaches focusing on environmental genomics and integrative biology. This includes research using any of the –omics approaches (genomics, proteomics, metabolomics), or taking a systems level approach to an environmental health problem. CEGIB also supports research to find or develop biomarkers for environmental disease. The Program supports 1-year projects which will lead to NIEHS R01-type applications. Emphasis is given to the support of young investigators as a tool to launch their research programs, to increase collaborative opportunities with established environmental health investigators, and to draw investigators from other fields of research into the environmental health sciences. Individual Pilot Project grants are typically funded at $30,000 direct costs for a one year period. The budget may include funds for supplies, salary for technical help, and support for use of facilities cores. Importantly, faculty salary is excluded. All University of Louisville faculty are eligible to apply.
