Professor Nuñez’s research interests include contemporary Latina/o literature and popular culture, narratives about child and adolescent border-crossing, genre fiction, as well as nineteenth-century bilingual periodicals in the U.S., Her current book manuscript, Border Noir, examines contemporary Chicana/o and Mexican narratives about crime on the U.S.-Mexico border and their engagement with both the detective and speculative fiction genres.
Educational Background
- Dr. Nuñez earned a B.A. in Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Literature from the University of California, San Diego. She was awarded an Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in Latina/o Studies and English at Northwestern University (2007-08).
