Bio

Dr. Kristi Maxwell is the author of five books of poetry: Realm Sixty-four (Ahsahta Press), Hush Sessions (Saturnalia Books), Re- (Ahsahta), That Our Eyes Be Rigged (Saturnalia), and PLAN/K (Horseless Press). Her scholarly publications include articles on experimental writing practices and the hybrid writing of Jenny Boully and Anne Carson, and her research interests involve theories of representation and difference, textual performance, and the body. A former Elliston Poetry Fellow, she received a PhD in Creative Writing & Literature, along with a graduate certificate in Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies, from the University of Cincinnati and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Arizona, where she served as editor-in-chief of Sonora Review. She will join the faculty of the UofL English Department in Fall 2016.

Courses Taught

Prerequisite: ENGL 102 or 105. The writing of poetry, fiction, and drama; analysis of professional writings. Class discussion and individual conferences.
Prerequisite: ENGL 102 or 105 Note: Approved for the Arts and Sciences upper-level requirement in written communication(WR). An introduction to English Studies, providing an overview of forms such as poetry, drama,and the novel, and an introduction to terminology and methods used in analyzing texts.
Prerequisite: ENGL 202. Note: Schedule of Courses indicates sections devoted to poetry, fiction, and drama respectively. Each section focuses on the writing of either fiction or poetry or drama; analysis of professional technique and of student writing. Class discussion and individual conferences.
Prerequisite: ENGL 305 or 403 or consent of instructor. Concentration on a given form.
