PTL Teaching Award
Part-Time Lecturer Teaching Award
For Part-Time Lecturers
in the Composition Program
(Sponsored by Gray’s Bookstore)
All Current Part-Time Lecturers
are Eligible to be Nominated or Self-Nominated
for this Excellence in Teaching Award.
Part-Time Lecturers who wish to be considered for the award should submit a teaching portfolio to Linda Baldwin by March 30, 2007. The teaching portfolio, not to exceed 25 pages, should include:
· Statement of teaching philosophy (not to exceed 750 words)
· Teaching materials (syllabi, assignments, activities, and handouts)
· A statement giving permission for the awards committee to view your two most recent sets of student evaluations (on file in the Composition office)
· Optional: additional supporting materials (for example, letters from colleagues, faculty supervisors, or students)
Based on their evaluation of the teaching portfolios, the Awards Committee will select finalists and the winner or winners of the award. The Awards Committee includes the Director of Composition, an Assistant Director of Composition, and the previous year’s Part-Time Lecturer Award winner or winners. All finalists will receive official recognition. The winner or winners of the award will be announced at the end of the Spring Semester and will share the $500 prize. (We wish to thank Gray’s Bookstore for providing the cash prize.) Previous winners can be nominated every three years.
Honoring and recognizing the many fine Part-Time Lecturers who teach in and support the Composition Program underscores the importance of their contribution and our appreciation for their efforts. Please contact Bronwyn Williams, Director of Composition, with any questions.
