I am a third year PhD student born and raised in Auburn, Alabama. I received my B.A. from Auburn University in 2007 and my M.A. from Auburn in 2009. My interest in rhetoric and writing developed from my first year of teaching freshman composition and tutoring individuals for their GED with the Lee County Literacy Coalition, where I began to wonder more about the relationship between the politics of language and assessment. I have taught courses in composition, gender studies, and ESL. I have also worked with kindergartners, elementary, and high school students on their own reading and writing. I am interested in literacy studies, specifically the roles of stakeholders in dual-enrollment and how these roles inform notions of literacy for high school and college students. I can be helpful if you are interested in using student texts in the classroom, assessment strategies, reading/discussion ideas, and commenting on student papers.
