As a composition researcher, I am dedicated to making general education writing courses interesting, relevant, and useful to students in all academic disciplines. I love all types of writing and have published in education, computer science, literature, and composition journals. I also write fiction and poetry and have experience with a large range of business and professional genres. What matters most to me as a writing teacher is helping students understand the conventions of the genres they will need for their professional and academic lives and seeing students clearly articulate and support arguments written for a variety of audiences. Linda Baldwin came to the English department in 1995 as Graduate Program Assistant and later took over her current position as Composition Program Administrative Assistant. Prior to 1995, Linda worked at UofL’s Medical School (Pediatrics and Pathology) and in the Office of the Vice-President for Administration. Linda received her degree in Psychology with a minor in Theatre Arts in May 05. She has written for the theatre at UofL and would love to have more time to devote to her interest in playwriting. On those rare occasions when she has free time, Linda enjoys reading, water aerobics, browsing estate sales, and planning and making home improvements.

I am a third year PhD student born and raised in Auburn, Alabama. I received my B.A. from Auburn University in 2007 and my M.A. from Auburn in 2009. My interest in rhetoric and writing developed from my first year of teaching freshman composition and tutoring individuals for their GED with the Lee County Literacy Coalition, where I began to wonder more about the relationship between the politics of language and assessment. I have taught courses in composition, gender studies, and ESL. I have also worked with kindergartners, elementary, and high school students on their own reading and writing. I am interested in literacy studies, specifically the roles of stakeholders in dual-enrollment and how these roles inform notions of literacy for high school and college students. I can be helpful if you are interested in using student texts in the classroom, assessment strategies, reading/discussion ideas, and commenting on student papers.
