Bonnie Part Time Lecturer Professional Development Grants

These professional development grants are available for part-time lecturers teaching in the Composition Program who have taught for the program for at least one semester. There will be one grant of up to $250 available each semester. The grant can be used for activities such as attending conferences, purchasing relevant books or software, preparing an article for publication, or other relevant professional activities. After completion of the activity financed by the grant, the instructor would be asked to present the material in some way such as conducting a workshop for the program or writing an essay/lesson plan to be posted on the program website or in CompPost.

Instructors interested in applying should write a one-page proposal explaining the purpose of the project, how it will help their work as teachers, and how they will present the work to other instructors. They should also include a brief projected budget and timeline for the project. The Composition Committee will decide who is awarded the grant each semester. Each part-time lecturer will be limited to one grant per academic year.

The deadline for applications for the Spring 2007 semester is the close of business Friday, March 9. If you have questions about the grants, including what kinds of projects might be appropriate, or the application process, please contact Bronwyn Williams (852-6896) or bronwyn.williams@louisville.edu
