The Composition Program in conjunction with the book-in-common program will
be hosting a luncheon this Friday, April 22, 1:00-2:00 p.m., in Ekstrom
210. We will be discussing this Fall's University Book-in-Common, *The
Other Wes Moore* and discussing how this book will be used in freshmen
orientation. This year, rather than focusing primarily upon integrating the
book in common into students' coursework, first-year initiatives will be
encouraging the students to read the book over the summer and integrating
activities and discussion about the book into orientation. Composition
instructors may wish to include activities or discussions in their classes
based on the assumption that students are at least familiar with the text
from orientation
activities; alternatively, instructors who wish to engage
with the themes and activism this text supports more directly could assign
it as a course text.
Please RSVP to Linda (llbald01@louisville.edu) by Thursday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. so we may order enough food.
