Maureen Morehead is the Kentucky Poet Laureate for 2011-2012. She has published four books of poetry: In a Yellow Room, Our Brothers’ War, A Sense of Time Left, and A Melancholy Teacher and her poems have appeared numerous literary journals. A University of Louisville graduate with a PhD in English, Maureen has won fellowships from the Kentucky Arts Council and the Kentucky Foundation for Women and she served for several years on the faculty of the Kentucky Institute for the Arts in Education, a program designed to help educators integrate the arts into their curricula.
