A commitment to acknowledging and examining the rich diversity of cultural expression is central to the English department. We demonstrate this commitment in courses in American and British literature required of our majors, in more specialized courses, such as those on African and African-American literature, and in the colloquia and readings, we sponsor.

Suzette Henke is the chair of the diversity committee for the 2006-2007 academic year. The committee also includes David Anderson (Spring), Thomas Byers, Joan D'Antoni, and Min-Zhan Lu.
