Testing Information
This page is dedicated to providing prospective and current students of various testing information relevent for admissions to the College of Education & Human Development's programs.
Many programs offered through the College of Education & Human Development may require a standardized test for admissions, program completion, and/or certification. The University of Louisville's Testing Services offers additional information on individual tests and is an offical testing site for many of the tests.
Undergraduate Testing Requirements
For general undergraduate admissions, first-time freshman will be required to submit either an ACT or SAT score to meet the general university admission requirement. Transfer student with over 24 credit semester hours may not need to submit a standardized testing score for admission. Our undergraduate initial teacher certification programs will require the submission of either an ACT, SAT, or PPST score. Admissions to the certification portion of an initial teacher certification program is competitive.
Graduate Testing Requirements
All of the graduate degree programs offered through the College of Education & Human Development require the submission of the Graduate Records Exam (GRE). Admissions to all our graduate degree programs are competitive and suggested minimum scores will vary depending on the program.
The University of Louisville NOW offers the Graduate Records Exam (GRE) computer based on site. Examinees must register through Prometric testing at 1-800-967-1100 or at www.prometric.com. If you chose to take your GRE at UofL you will take the exam at Testing Services in Davidson Hall, Room 310 on Belknap campus. You can visit the UofL Testing website or call 852-6606 for further testing information. There is also a corporate site at Prometric Testing which is located in the Norwood Office Park Building across from Budget Car Sales at 7400 LaGrange Road (about 100 yards from the Intersection of LaGrange Road and Shelbyville Road). You can register for your preferred site.
GRE Workshops

Certification Testing Requirements
Teacher Certification programs may also require a passing score on the Praxis exam to obtain a recommendation for certification in the state of Kentucky. Tests and scores will vary depending on the type of certification being pursued.
Praxis II Workshops
All sessions are held in the Swain Student Activities Center (SAC) room W303A. They are held from 4pm - 6pm. For more information or to RSVP (2 weeks in advance), please call 502-852-7697.

Foreign Applicants
Applicants whose native language is not English may be required to submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score in order to demonstrate sufficient language skills to successfully complete a graduate program at the University of Louisville. Please reveiw the International Admissions Requirments as listed by the Graduate School.
