Education Juniors & Seniors/Mentors

Peer Mentor Qualifications:

  • Full-time Junior or Senior within the College of Education

  • Minimum grade point average of 3.0

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of the major and college

  • Exhibit maturity, reliability and responsibility.

Potential Benefits to Becoming a Peer Mentor:

  • Paid on-campus position (can earn up to $500/semester)

  • Learn valuable leadership and communication skills

  • Gain practical work experience that will enhance your résumé

  • Work closely with academic advisors and sophomores in your same major area

Before applying to become a peer mentor please consider the following:

  • Are you interested in helping other students?

  • Can you make the commitment to attend numerous events and training workshops each semester?  (Are you very involved on campus already?)

  • Are you a role model for your peers?

  • Can you work with staff and other peer mentors in a productive way?

  • Are you willing to set aside time to communicate regularly with and help mentees when they need it?
