New/Transfer Students
Students transferring from another institution, or from another school within the University of Louisville, must meet with an Education academic counselor before they will be able to register for classes.
During the initial appointment students will:
- Discuss their choice of major and potential career opportunities
- Discuss potential concentrations and/or minors as they relate to the chosen major
- Discuss opportunities for engagement
- Review degree policies and procedures
- Review program sheets for general education and course requirements
- Discuss course selection and registration
Remember that your grade point average (gpa) from now on is based on UofL courses only! We will use the UofL gpa for academic actions (link to academic actions) and degree completion as well as determination of Honors (link to Honors guidelines, currently at www.louisville.edu/edu/eac/laude.html ).
EXCEPTION: Students applying for admission to teacher education will be considered for admission based on all courses completed at all institutions.
Students who have earned less than 30 credit hours, and/or who are placed on academic probation (link to academic actions) are required to be advised prior to registration.
Students who have earned 60 or more credit hours are typically advised in the major department by an assigned faculty advisor. Contact the Education Advising Center if you are not sure about your advisor assignment (edadvise@louisville.edu).
Student Learning Outcomes (link to Student Learning Outcomes – in progress): Students are encouraged to review the student learning outcomes and evaluate their progress. Please discuss any areas of concern with your academic counselor!
