Submissions

Conference Information | Registration | Submit Materials Online

Our intention is to accept all submissions for presentations. All submissions will be evaluated through a double blind peer review process for two purposes (See evaluation rubric [DOC]):

  1. To provide peer review/feedback to the presenters prior to the conference.
  2. To provide information for the program committee to organize sessions within the conference schedule.

There are three categories for submissions: completed study, work in progress, or project plan. There are two session types: poster or paper. Instructions for submitting a completed study, work in progress, or project plan are listed below.

Completed Study

Description

  1. The project has been approved by your department's committee.
  2. Data has been collected.
  3. Analyses are complete.
  4. Results and Conclusions have been finalized.
  5. Manuscript is complete.

Structure

Abstract: Due March 2, 2009

The abstract should not exceed 150 words. It should include a brief introduction and discussion of methods/procedures and any relevant findings (see APA 5th edition manual, p. 12).

Proposal Brief: Due March 2, 2009

A brief description of the study - maximum 2600 words

  1. Introduction - Indicate the significance and purpose of the research and cite the primary literature sources
  2. Methods - Describe the methods of data collection, data analysis, and research design
  3. Results and Discussion - Discuss the results of your analysis
  4. Conclusion - Implications and/or applications of the study
  5. References - Follow APA guidelines

Final Submission: Due March 27, 2009

The final submission should be no more than 12,000 words and should follow APA style. A few longer papers may be accepted, but should be ready for publication quality. Submissions should be made through the online submission form.

Order of the Manuscript Pages (from APA Manual, 5th edition, p. 287):

  • Title page with running head for publication, title, and byline and institutional affiliation (separate page, numbered page 1)
  • Abstract (separate page, numbered page 2)
  • Text (start on a separate page, numbered page 3)
  • References (start on a separate page)
  • Appendixes (start each on a separate page)
  • Author note (start on a separate page)
  • Footnotes (list together, on a separate page)
  • Tables (start each on a separate page)
  • Figure captions (list together, starting on a separate page)
  • Figures (place each on a separate page)

Work In Progress

  1. The project has been approved by your department's committee.

  3. Analyses not completed.
  4. You can share preliminary results.
  5. Share issues encountered in collecting data and analyzing data.

  4. Conclusion - N/A
  5. References - Follow APA guidelines

Works in Progress should include as much of the structure of Completed Projects as is feasible for the status of the project. A typical work in progress is expected to include A) Introduction, B) Methods, C) Data Analysis – as much as is feasible, and E) References. Submissions should be made through the online submission form.
