CLEP – College Level Examination Program

The University of Louisville Fort Knox Center (Test Center #2724) in now a national test site for CLEP and DSST examinations.

CLEP Examinations will be given through our office as indicated by the schedule below. In order to register, you must submit a registration form to our office at least one week before the requested test date. You may access the form below, call our office 502-942-8060 and have one mailed, or download the entire Information for Candidates booklet. No more than three (3) CLEP exams many be taken on a test date, with the exception of exams with an additional essay portion when only two (2) exams will be permitted. The CLEP exam has limited seating and registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. You are not guaranteed the primary test date or time that you request.

Fees

There are two separate fees to consider when taking a CLEP exam. The CLEP fee for each exam is $65 and is collected at the time of the test if paying with credit card. While credit cards are the preferred method of payment, your CLEP fee can also by paid by check or money order provided it is sent in with your registration form. Separate checks must be written for each exam, made payable to “College Level Examination Program”. You should indicate how you will be paying the CLEP fee on your registration form.

There is also a $20 non-refundable service fee per exam payable to the University of Louisville. For examinees taking the optional essay exams, there is an additional $10 fee for the processing of the optional essays for Freshman College Compositions, English Literature, Analyzing and Interpreting Literature, and American Literature also payable to the University of Louisville. The University of Louisville fees may be combined and MUST accompany your registration form. If you are unable to attend on your originally scheduled date, you will simply need to resubmit your registration form and fees.

Registration

One week before your scheduled testing date, we will mail you an admission ticket verifying your method of payment for the CLEP fee, times of your exams, the exams for which you have registered, and other pertinent information about exam procedures. Examinees are advised to contact specific departments within their colleges and universities regarding CLEP acceptance policies before registering for any exam. It is the examinees responsibility to ensure that he/she registers for the correct exam. Examinations are administered based upon the exact test title you provide in Section #15 of the Registration Admission Form.
