Student Teaching and Clinical Practice Application

Prior to completing the student teaching application, all students shall have been admitted to the Teacher Education Program and be currently enrolled in the required professional courses as identified on his/her individual program sheets. Applicants will have maintained the following grade point average (GPA):

  • a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
  • a major (courses in the area of your concentration) GPA of 2.5
  • a professional (education courses) GPA of 3.0

Apply using the Student Teaching and Clinical Practice Application. The first component, Student Teaching and Clinical Placement Form, is due by October 15, 2009. The remaining three components of the Student Teaching Application must be completed by October 30, 2009.

All candidates must have a satisfactory mid-point portfolio before student teaching. Be sure you communicate with your advisor regarding your progress. A Student Teaching Orientation will be held with all candidates and university liaisons/supervisors on December 8, 2009. The Student Teacher Orientation is held in conjunction with the College of Education and Human Development Recruitment and Information Fair. Candidates will be notified with additional information on the time and location.

When your placement is finalized, all candidates must complete a criminal records check for the district of placement. A Criminal Records Check is valid for six (6) months. Fees, locations and contact information for fingerprinted criminal records vary by district.
