The Center for Learning Excellence (CLE) partners with the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) and the Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) to provide support to schools in need of turnaround. The services focus on the schools identified as Tier 1, 2, and 3 for School Improvement Grant (SIG) purposes within JCPS and the Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative (OVEC) service region. To ensure the CLE services provided address the greatest needs, the CLE works closely in collaboration with the KDE Education Recovery Director for this region and the KDE Education Recovery staff working within the Tier 1 and 2 schools. The CLE is funded by a SIG grant from KDE.

The CLE began providing services to schools in fall 2010, and already there have been many services provided, including professional development designed for each school's needs and assistance with student data analysis, curriculum alignment, literacy and numeracy, response to interventions, policy review, SIG progress reports, instructional and turnaround leadership, PLAN and ACT, and formative assessment strategies.

If you are serving in a Tier 1,2, or 3 school within our CLE's service area and you are interested in receiving our assistance, please contact the CLE Coordinator, Debbie Powers, at 502-295-7770 or debbie.powers@louisville.edu.
