Early Childhood Continuous Assessment: Screening and Assessment Instruments
Assessment Tool Distribution
About Continuous Assessment
The Division of Early Childhood Development at the Kentucky Department of Education has used KIDS NOW dollars to support the advancement of continuous assessment in early childhood development by providing 16 of the approved screening and assessment instruments for use at the University of Louisville.
These screening and assessment instruments are for classroom instruction for our in-service teachers and students, for research purposes in master's and doctoral research, and for use by our faculty for research purposes. The instruments are located in our Early Childhood Research Center (ECRC) and are overseen by Ms. Lynn Ernst in CEHD room 240. She will check-out and check-in instruments as they are needed. The ECRC also can provide orientation and training for teachers, students and researchers interested in using these instruments and how they link to early learning standards, other assessment instruments, and to teacher professional development.
Copies of two documents published by the Division of Early Childhood that link the assessments with early learning standards in Kentucky are also available in the ECRC. These documents are:
--Building a Strong Foundation for School Success - Kentucky's Early Childhood Standards
--Building a Strong Foundation for School Success - Kentucky's Early Childhood Continuous Assessment Guide
Please contact Lynn Ernst at 502-852-2208 if you have any questions.
