The Center for Economic Education

The Center for Economic Education was founded along with the Kentucky Council on Economic Education at the University of Louisville in 1974 by Dr. Jack Morgan. The U of L Center aims to develop peoples’ economic knowledge and decision making skills they will need throughout their lives as teachers, family members, workers, citizens and business, labor, government and community leaders. The Center also conducts research in these areas.

  • The Center provides support to schools and training to teachers who in turn will teach students.
  • The Center produces and distributes teaching materials for use by teachers in K-16 classrooms.
  • The Center maintains an affiliation with the National Council on Economic Education to draw upon their strength in national programming, curriculum materials, research and public awareness of the need for economic education
  • The Center maintains close ties with the Kentucky Department of Education to ensure that economics content find its appropriate place in state required content and is also included in state assessments. (Kentucky Core Content)
  • The Center conducts outreach programs designed to reach students in non classroom locales and programs, such as GED programs, after schools programs for at-risk youth and many others.
