Center for Research in Mathematics and Science Teacher Development
The University of Louisville Center for Research in Mathematics and Science Teacher Development (CRMSTD) became an official university center on September 13, 2002.
The Center is housed in the Department of Teaching and Learning in the College of Education and Human Development, allowing it to build strong collaborations already established among faculty in the College, faculty in Arts and Sciences, and teachers and administrators in local school districts. Its primary goals are to: (1) conduct research on the development of mathematics and science teachers from the beginning of their preparation program to the end of their career; (2) build exemplary models of teacher recruitment, teacher education programs, and professional development experiences based on this research, and (3) build doctoral programs in mathematics and science education that are nationally competitive.
The Center for Research in Mathematics and Science Teacher Development is currently involved in eight large-scale projects:
The Projects
- Mathematics Assessments for Middle School Teachers.
- Mathematics Assessments for Elementary Teachers.
- Science Assessments for Middle School Teachers.
- Appalachian Collaborative Center for Learning, Assessment, and Instruction in Mathematics (ACCLAIM)
- Louisville Area Science and Mathematics Alliance for Recruitment and Teacher Education Reform (LA-SMARTER)
