When working with Individuals on the Autism Spectrum it is often difficult to understand why they may engage in certain behaviors. If communication is a deficit area for these individuals, they may not be able to tell us their wants or needs. Therefore communication is key when attempting to increase desirable behaviors or decrease undesirable behaviors. During this session we will take a look at how we can shape behaviors through the use of evidence-based practices.

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will leave with an understanding of autism spectrum disorders
2. Participants will leave with an understanding of how to determine the function of behaviors
3. Participants will leave with an understanding of how to increase communication
4. Participants will leave with an understanding of evidence-based practices in the area of shaping behaviors
