"Obtaining a degree was a personal choice for me. I wanted to be a good role model for my children to encourage life-long learning. The professors were so supportive and interested in ensuring that we could apply what we learned to our daily situations. They understood that many of us were adult learners who juggled classes with full-time jobs and families. The bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership and Learning provided knowledge and skills that prepared me to pursue a master's degree. The master's degree is especially helpful in expanding my experience in the area of Human Resources research. I use the research to inform the decisions that I make in my role."

Nelson shared that she enjoys working with professors who were/are supportive and as committed to her success as she is. She recommends that students learn as much as they can and apply it to their careers. "Build relationships, take opportunities to stretch and challenge yourself and know that you may find better opportunities, both in lateral and upward moves during your career."
