How is the CEHD Changing the Future of Doctoral Education?

The CEHD is playing a vital role in shaping the future of doctoral education as demonstrated by its acceptance in the "Carnegie Initiative on the Professional Practice Doctorate." This is a special initiative undertaken by the Carnegie Foundation, in collaboration wtih selected institutions, to develop a doctorate in Educational Leadership that will "break the mold" of doctoral education.

The CEHD was selected for this initiative based on the nature of the work already being accomplished in the college, our partnerships (Jefferson County Public Schools, Ohio Valley Education Cooperative), and our vision for the future of the college and educational leadership. The CEHD is also working in partnership with the University of Kentucky on this initiative and in creating a statewide program model for educational leadership.
