Alice Eaves Barns Award
Due: October
Awarded to a student who has displayed tenacity if the face of adversity, while attaining excellence in both the classroom and outside endeavors.
Eligibility: Students who will complete masters degree in August or December 2007.

Omicron Delta Kappa Award for Outstanding Senior in Education Development
Due: March
This honorary society gives an award based on leadership in campus activities.
Eligibility: Each undergraduate degree-granting department in the College of Education and Human Development provides a nomination accompanied by a rationale and supporting data.

Awards in Special Education
MBNA Scholarship
Due: April 25, 2008
The Kappa Delta Pi Educational Foundation is awarding one (1) scholarship for an undergraduate or graduate student in special education.
Eligibility: Candidates for this scholarship fall into two categories: a) active members of institutional KDP chapters; b) active members attending institutions without KDP chapters or professional members.
A $1000 Cash prize is given to the winner.

Delta Zeta Awards in Special Education

This social and service oriented sorority presents a cash award to two outstanding special education graduate students based on scholarship, service, and leadership.
Eligibility: Special education graduate students.

Crusade for Children Special Ed. Scholarship Award
Due: November 1
Amount: 35 people will receive $685.
This scholarship award is designed to assist individuals committed to educating children with special needs in area schools.

Beacon of Hope - Excellence in Education Award
Due: November 1
Presented to an educator (teacher/school administrator) who has shown creative ways to address the unique learning styles of their students and lead them toward a path to success. Three finalists will be interviewed to determine the award recipient.
A $250 Cash prize is given to the winner.

Award for Literacy Teacher
Toyota Family Literacy Teacher of the Year Award
Due: First week of December
The Award is given to educators who demonstrate exemplary efforts to help parents and children achieve their academic and non-academic goals.
The award winner will receive a $5,000 award for his/her program, courtesy of Toyota. He/she also will receive a trip to the 17th Annual National Conference on Family Literacy in Louisville, Kentucky, March 30-April 1, 2008. Several finalists will be selected for the 2008 Award and each finalist will receive a $500 scholarship.

Awards for Doctoral Students
Hollis L. Caswell Scholarship in Curriculum and Instruction
Due: April 25, 2008
The applicant must be an active (current dues paid) member in good standing. Each application must include the applicant’s Kappa Delta Pi membership number. Applicants must have already been admitted for doctoral level study at a recognized graduate school or college of education and must have successful experience in teaching or another professional education position.
The applicant must use the $4000 award for doctoral study in a recognized education-related graduate school or college of education.

O. L. Davis, Jr. Scholarship in Curriculum Development, Curriculum History, or Social Studies Education
