Faculty and staff in the Department of Teaching and Learning pursue studies and issues that effect education in our community and beyond, as well as the nature of pedagogy and learning and cultural diversity. The department's research has helped the college establish deep connections within the surrounding community through its work in curriculum development, institutes, mathematics and science teachers and school reform.
The college is committed to providing equitable opportunities for all learners, in light of their backgrounds and learning styles, and to prepare teachers who have the knowledge, skills and dispositions necessary to successfully teach diverse learners. Our ultimate aim is to enable success for all learners.
Research and Scholarship
Teaching and Learning faculty have published numerous books and book chapters, journal articles, book reviews, monographs, and many other types of publications. Department faculty members have received a number of awards for their research activities, and several are members of editorial boards for professional journals, or are editors or associate editors of professional journals. The department's faculty includes the College of Education and Human Development's only endowed chair, who is a Distinguished University Scholar.
