Our COSMA accredited curriculum offers the opportunity to gain industry knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to succeed in the sport industry.
In addition to the core curriculum, we offer numerous electives allowing you to customize your program to meet your interests and career aspirations. Some electives include: Athletics in Higher Education, International Sport, Management of Professional Baseball, Sport Event Management, Women and Sport, Entrepreneurship in Sport, Promotion and Sales, and Sport for Development and Peace.
All of our core classes and many elective classes are offered both on campus and online to provide students with the flexibility to complete the degree.
Learn from faculty with industry and academic expertise
Sport Administration faculty members are a dynamic and diverse group passionate about cultivating student strengths, challenging personal growth, and helping students realize a dream of working in the sport industry. Our faculty have over 80 years of combined teaching experience, worked in numerous segments of the sport industry, authored more than 15 textbooks, and collaborated on hundreds of research publications.
Take advantage of experiential learning opportunities
The Sport Administration program offers unique and diverse experiential learning opportunities with industry partners allowing students to learn outside the classroom. In recent years, some partners have included: UofL Athletics, adidas, SP+ GameDay Management & the Kentucky Derby, Louisville City FC, Louisville Bats Baseball Club, the Louisville Sports Commission, NCAA Final Four, the NFL, and the PGA Championships.
The HSS International Study Abroad program has taken students to volunteer at events in locations such as Toronto, Amsterdam, Denmark, Poland, London, and Gibraltar. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the University of Louisville’s International Service Learning (ISL) program travelling to locations such as Ghana, Botswana, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Gain real industry experience
Each student in the Sport Administration program completes an internship which not only helps students gain valuable experience but can lead to future employment. Students completing internships can work to apply skills learned in the classroom to Louisville’s diverse range of professional, collegiate, high school, and non-profit sport settings.
